Newark Paid Sick Leave


Effective June 21, 2014, employers with employees working in Newark, New Jersey will have to provide a minimum amount of paid sick leave to any employees working at least 80 hours/ year. Employers with 10 or more employees must provide up to 5 days, or 40 hours, of job-protected paid sick leave a year. Those employers with less than 10 employees must provide up to three days, or 24 hours, of paid sick leave each year. Employers must notify their employees of their rights under the ordinance by June 21, 2014.
