Impact of Same-Sex Marriage Passed in Maine, Maryland and Washington


With the recent election, Maine, Maryland and Washington approved same-sex marriage bringing the total number of states with same-sex marriage laws to 10. In Maine, couples will be legally allowed to marry beginning December 29th. These laws become effective in Maryland on January 1, 2013 and on December 6, 2012 for those in the state of Washington.
