Goldman Sachs releases report by WGA
William Gallagher Associates (WGA) Employee Benefits Practice is featured in a report released by Goldman Sachs Equity Research that focuses on 2012 industry pricing and trends. WGA’s Ken Ambos, Senior Vice President in the New York office, was the featured speaker in a broadcast to over 100 institutional investors earlier this month, providing his perspective on current market conditions and future developments in employee benefits programs at mid-sized companies.
Matthew Borsch, lead analyst for the Managed Care segment of Goldman Sach’s Healthcare equity research team, commented “the key takeaway is that price competition has markedly increased from recent years…”, and “the manifestation of price competition is a greater willingness by carriers to negotiate to lower rate increases to retain business.”
Along with health reform, other trends discussed in the report include self-funding, population health management initiatives, competition among insurance carriers and tiered-network product development.
