WGA’s Employee Benefits Compliance Team offers an overview on three recent compliance notices, including:

Patient Centered Outcomes Research Fee – due by July 31, 2014
The Patient Centered Outcomes Research Fee (PCOR) funds an evidence-based research study on the effectiveness of healthcare. Both fully-insured and self-insured medical plans are subject to this fee, and self-insured plans must file an IRS Form 720 by July 31st. Click here to learn more.

Transitional Reinsurance Fee – due by November 15, 2014
The Transitional Reinsurance Fee helps stabilize premiums for coverage in the individual market during the first three years the health insurance marketplaces are in operation. Contributing entities must submit specific information to HHS to pay these fees by November 15, 2014. Please click here to learn more.

FMLA covers same-sex spouse regardless of state of residence
The U.S. Department of Labor recently announced a proposed rule extending the protections of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to all qualified employees in legally recognized same-sex marriages regardless of where they live. Click here for more details.
