Making positive contributions to our community and advancing social responsibility are crucial to our core values.
Giving back to the world around us is one way that our company demonstrates the importance of this mission. The Community Involvement Committee at WGA was formed to oversee these efforts as we strive to make positive contributions to the community. Besides donating to various non-profit organizations and worthy causes, this committee also encourages employees to participate in volunteer efforts and contribute time, talent and leadership in various ways to organization that serve to better our community.
The team of volunteers at Gallagher WGA team has successfully run toy drives and wraps gifts for children in need each holiday season, oversees fundraising efforts to make donations to the Boston Food Bank, Dana Farber and the Cancer Support Community and Play Ball Foundation, among others. The community involvement team has also run sock drives to benefit soldiers’ overseas as well as local homeless veteran’s shelters, and bake sales to benefit Heading Home and the Pan Mass Challenge/Jimmy Fund Ride and Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. The entire company has participated in service projects to clean up local parks, formed a team for the City Year Serv-a-thon to improve the condition of a schoolyard, and regularly volunteers to serve meals at various local shelters including Father Bill’s Mainspring in Quincy.
In October 2015 the team took on its biggest challenge yet – an extreme home makeover! As part of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) “Week of Giving” the team cleaned and fully furnishing an apartment at the direction of Heading Home. The Gallagher WGA team transformed an apartment into a home and helped for a family of four move into their permanent place after living a shelter for two years.
In June 2014, the WGA team was recognized for its efforts with a #SoGood Award from BostonInno for contributing to the social good around Boston through employee volunteer initiatives and donations. With many of these organizations facing ever-rising costs, loss of funding, and an increasing demand for their precious services, there has never been a better time for us to make a difference.
